POST INFORMATION

 This page is dedicated to the members from Ansbach Post 9342 for what they do to improve this community its veterans and family members. I also hope that knowing what the Ansbach Post 9342 is doing within the community that more members and families members will find time to give. And next time someone ask you “what does the VFW do “now you can look them in the eyes a say check out our site.

May 2005

        Ansbach Post 9342 hosted the Memorial day Ceremony Service at Headquarter 4th Aviation Brigade, Katterbach Army Airfield the 26 May 2005. The JROTC from Ansbach H.S. carried the post flag and the in the ceremony. The e community and 4th Bde Commanders Placed the wreath for the military community and two members from the post place the post wreath. About 60 persons showed up to attend this ceremony.

 

May 2005

        On Memorial Day Commander Millet and family, Senior Jive Commander Shinn with family and Surgeon Moyer with family placed a wreath at the grave of our past comrade Loomis in the name of all comrades who have given all they can give to our country and the VFW. During this same weekend the post conducted it Buddy Poppy drive with numerous members from the post participating. This program uses all donations for the post relief fund 

 

 May 2005 to Present

        Post members give in many ways one very important way is with Hospital visit to the Ansbach Krankenhaus the local hospital in this area. To date post members have conducted 15 visits and seen 17 persons. Working with the community doing hospital visit is just one of the many programs that the post does all year long.

 

June 2005

         During this time the Post started its web page at  http://ansbach.vfweurope.net the site is updated very two months with information and photos of the activities that the post has done. Please visit our place and if there is anything that can be updated let the commander know. The idea of this site is to keep all members informed. If any member has old pictures of the post Please sent them to the commander at ansbach9342@hotmail.com  we will try to put them into the site.

                           

July 2005

        This month saw the start of a new project for the post but an old one for the VFW. The post home was opened for the service officer to assist the veterans and family members with claims and paper work for VA. For this project the Post invited the Department Service Officer Comrade Nagen for his expertise, along with Comrade Buckman Ansbach Post 9342 Service Officer the post home now is open every third Tuesday   of the month from 1300 to 1600 to help any vet member or not from this post. This program is one of the many which the VFW offers to better help the veteran.

 

July 2005

     The post hosted District III Consul of Administration. The post home was used for the BBQ and a place for members and family to sit and talk. The Garrison Commander let us use the Dinning Facility for the meeting. It was a very successful meeting and a wonderful day of activities. Comrade Past Department Commander Bodily and Comrade SJC Shinn did a great job cooking the Burgers and stakes and the wife’s from the post members did a fantastic job getting very thing ready for the meal and meeting.

 

August 2005

             During this time the Post donation door prices for two units in the Ansbach military community for organizations days a small token of support to the units and the soldiers. Many members of our post are active duty members of the military in the last few years we have supported all the units here in the Ansbach area with Uplink cards, boxes of books and small items during deployments and in garrison.  It is another of the small things that make a strong bond between the VFW and the Military and Post 9342.

 

August 2005

             Ansbach Showcase: Again the Post involvement in the community. During the showcase the post set up a table with the rest of the community organizations and but out information to the community on different programs which the VFW sponsors and passed safety and fire publication also the education programs like VOD and Patriot Pen. This was a good time to show the community what the VFW  Post 9342 is about. It was a very successful opportunity for this post.

 

September 2005

                Post 9342 took on one of it biggest project to date during the cold winds of Sept. 2005 The doors to the post were open to collect clothes, toys and books for victims of Hurricane Katrina from the 7 Sept to the 15 the from 1000 to 1600 daily. The post collected over 40 boxes of items and pickup another 80 box for the local elementary school in Illesheim, bring the total to over a hundred boxes by the time the boxes were fully pack. Now to get the boxes out was a major problem but as always never tells old soldiers that it can’t be done with the support of many private organizations within and out of the VFW. To date 43 boxes have gone to the VFW National Home for Children which has opened it doors to the victims of disaster at a cost of $600.00 and a saving of over $5000.00 to the Home. By the time this project is completed the saving to the home will be close to $13,200.00 dollars. The number of hours that the members have given has surpassed over 200 this truly is amazing to give without expecting anything back. VFW meanings caring and Ansbach Post cares about this community and our country and as our motto go “We’ve got your back”

 

October 2005

       Post members attended the Dist III C&A in Berlin, four members from the post hold positions in the Dist III Taking care of business seem to go good with our post.  Comrade Millet JVC Dist III,  Comrade Buckan Adjutant,  Comrade Powell Judge Advocate and Comrade Moyer Trustee 3 Yrs.

Ensuring that all information is getting out to the members.

 

October 2005

              Comrade Buckman the Post Service Officers attended the  two day Department Service officers training conducted at Mannheim. This yearly training help keep up to date the Service Officer on rules and laws for VA another way to help the Vet.  This years training ended with a dinner at the hotel with the honor guess being the Nation Senor Commander and Chief. Attended by Commander Millet and JVC Shinn with families.

 

 From the Commander:

      Post members have worked hard and given of themselves without questions or expecting any thing in return, many good thing have happened within this community. I as commander can only say “THANK YOU” and keep up the great job, what we do here is to help and this is a good thing.
